Chapter Five
John
John enters a “u” in the field. The game gives him a “success” message, and he throws his hands in the air with a cheer, a smile migrating across his lips. He loves the little word games. He basically loves words, period. They are his heart and soul. He gazes out at the ocean, his heart nudging him to check the video feed to see if she is awake yet. Surely, they’ll be intimate, as they are every morning, and he doesn’t want to miss it. It is a strange dichotomy he grapples with. On the one hand, he wants her with every fiber of his being, and despite hating Bridge, he likes that Bridge gives her so much pleasure. Her pleasure is his pleasure, and it feeds his soul to watch her enjoying her body. So, how can he hate Bridge fully? Yet, Bridge has what’s his. But John also knows this is temporary and he can do anything for a short time, knowing what’s coming for him to enjoy with her in the future.
His mama had taught him that good things come to those who wait. He misses her terribly. She would have liked Juniper very much. He laments the two will never meet this side of death. It’s a hard fact that only an fantasy novel about the afterlife could change. No matter, he knows exactly how his mother would react to Juniper, and she would one hundred percent approve of John’s choice....
