A Second Chance at Submission: Chapter 6

Life at Annie’s carried on as it had before, except that Chad and Riley didn’t much try to muffle their lovemaking sounds since we’d talked. I still had to imagine what they might be up to, but my overall perspective seemed to shift from untouchables who taunted me with their intimacy noises to friends who had sex together. I was, of course, waiting with bated breath for my next opportunity to be closer to the action.

My desire was satiated two weeks later. We’d all gone to a late night rave together, and were feeling amped up when we got home around three in the morning. Santa Ana wind conditions had created a warm, dry evening that felt good on my sweaty body, and I walked straight to the back patio to unwind. Chad followed me, while Rachel veered off into the kitchen.

As we were heading for the chairs, Chad’s foot caught a leg, causing him to lose his somewhat inebriated and exhausted balance. I reached out to steady him, and he slowly collapsed onto the loveseat before slumping into a corner. Bemused, I planted my body opposite of him, nestling my head into the wingback. We could only laugh about it and the fun we’d had partying as I gazed upward into the starry night.
