Do I have to be exclusive — can I still publish on Kindle Unlimited?
No exclusivity required, ever. Your rights stay yours and you can publish on Kindle Unlimited, wide, or anywhere else simultaneously. The only thing exclusivity unlocks is the top tier of The Author Kit bookmark rewards, and that is optional. Theo Reads is built for authors who want an alternative to KU dependency, not a replacement for every distribution channel they already have.
What can I actually publish here?
Spicy romance and elevated erotica across all heat levels, sweet to explicit. Dark romance, gothic romance, monster romance, reverse harem, why choose, enemies to lovers, BDSM, kink fiction — all of it. Minimum story length is 1,500 words. What Theo Reads does not publish: AI-written stories, content involving minors, incest, or sexual assault. If there is no desire, it cannot be on Theo Reads.
Is Theo Reads a safe platform for explicit content — will my work still be allowed here in a year?
Gumroad banned adult content with 30 days notice. KDP pulled titles with no warning. Patreon changed policies mid-contract. Some of you have been burned repeatedly by platforms that welcomed you, grew on your content, then quietly ghosted you. Theo Reads was specifically designed for spicy romance and elevated erotica. We are payment processor approved. We're not going anywhere. We didn't build a romance platform and make room for erotica. We built a platform where love and desire live together.
