Fraternity Alpha Series, Chapter 1: Ms. Jess's Paddle

The convention was a disappointment. Everyone was very well-behaved—kink convention attendees tended to be polite and to tip well—but tempers were frayed.

Amy was wearing what she thought of as boy drag. It was not a daring outfit: androgynous jeans, a minimizing bra that didn’t minimize that much, a white t-shirt and a collared long-sleeved uniform shirt—a thrift store find—that had belonged to a mechanic or a plumber named Jeffrey. The sleeves were far too long, but at least it was big enough to button across her tits. She had been thinking of buying men’s boxers but hadn’t found the nerve yet. Her clunky second-hand workmen’s boots did not fit well. As there weren’t enough places to sit down, Amy was starting to think the boots were a mistake.

When Amy neared the front of the admission line after a three hour wait, the couple immediately before her were arguing with a distressed volunteer over a lost preregistration. Once Amy got her wrist band and visited the vendor room, half the booths were empty due to some snafu at the loading dock. She tried to attend a panel on impact play, but the hotel web site with the function room map was returning timeout errors. She found the room by collaring a hotel employee and asking. Once Amy arrived there, she found two groups arguing because, apparently, they’d been double-booked. Frustrated, she decided to find something to eat.
