What kind of name was Xavi? A quick web search informed Amy that it was Catalan. Until then she’d forgotten that there were multiple dialects spoken within Spain.

There was time to shower, towel-dry her hair and put on fresh clothes. She spent a few moments in front of the closet mirror. Chinos and a polo, or something else? She had no reason to dress up for this totally random guy, but it was Friday night, and she hadn’t been out on a Friday night with anyone for weeks. Months, maybe. She could always dress up for herself. Amy finally settled on black jeans and a thin, pink silk blouse that she’d bought a year ago and hardly ever worn.

Then there was the problem of public transit, as the T was never on time. Amy could be late or early. She decided to aim for early, because even if she was a bit annoyed at Allie and her coworker Brooke, she had agreed to meet this man, and there was no reason to make him stand around.

She took the Green Line, standing up for multiple stops before someone left and she could take his seat. Exiting at Hynes, Amy glanced at her phone, which told her she was going to be about five minutes late. Hopefully this Xavi wouldn’t decide that she was standing him up and leave. Though if he did, there would still be ice cream.

Amy had forgotten that the Sox were playing that night....
